Management
The RT4 runs on baery power, using a rechargeable, Li-Ion baery pack. A
non-removable, internal baery pack is an opon.
Charging the Baery Pack(s)
For instrucons on how to insert and charge the removable baery
pack, refer to Chapter 1, Install the Baery Pack. For tablets that have
both a removable baery pack and an oponal internal baery pack, the
intelligent internal baery charging circuit rst charges the baery pack
with the least amount of energy. When this baery pack comes to the
same level as the other baery pack, then both baery packs are charged
at the same me unl they are both fully charged.
Baery packs are charged most eciently at room temperature (68°F or
20°C). They will not charge if it is too hot or too cold.
Baery Status and Management
To nd out how much baery life you have le, tap on the baery icon at
the boom of the desktop screen. The amount of charge le as a percent
and the status of each baery is shown. The cumulave amount of baery
life le for installed baeries and the approximate amount of me baery
power will last is also shown. The amount of me le varies depending on
what you are doing with the unit.
Baery Life
Baery life on a full charge can be 12 hours or more. This varies depending
on whether or not you also have an oponal internal baery, the
applicaons used, backlight usage, and radio usage. The oponal internal
baery adds 5-6 extra hours of baery life.
The shelf life for baery packs is about one year. The baery packs should
be recharged at least once per year. This prevents the baery packs from
discharging to a level that might damage the baeries. Baery packs
that are not recharged at least every year, could fail to work or may have
reduced capacity. Baery packs typically last 1,000 to 3,000 charging
cycles.
