Section 1 Assembling the Model 860
The Model 860 is shipped partially disassembled to allow for safe travel.
Follow the steps below to assemble the Model 860.
1. Locate and remove the parts bag from the shipping container. This bag will include one
(1) PN 4312 5/32” hex wrench, one (1) PN 8019 power cord, one (1) PN 8672 straight
tube, and one (1) PN 8671 or PN 8699 straight tube adapter. (If interfacing the Model
860 with a Model 36A/36B or Model 360, the PN 8671 straight tube adapter is included.
If interfacing the Model 860 with a Model 93, Model 97A, Model 930, or Model 970, the
PN 8699 straight tube adapter is included.)
2. Remove the stand assembly from the shipping container and place on a flat surface.
3. Remove the machine cabinet/bowl assembly from the shipping container and place on top
of the stand assembly. If necessary, using the provided PN 4312 5/32” hex wrench,
loosen the three (3) PN 2412 cap screws on the mounting plate post, located underneath
the machine cabinet.
4. Using the provided PN 4312 5/32” hex wrench, tighten the three (3) PN 2412 cap screws
on the mounting plate post once the machine cabinet/bowl assembly is correctly placed
on top of the stand assembly.
5. Remove the adjustable tube assembly from the shipping container. Line up the two (2)
mounting holes with the corresponding mounting holes on the machine cabinet/bowl
assembly.
6. Using the provided PN 4312 5/32” hex wrench, attach the adjustable tube assembly to the
machine cabinet/bowl assembly with the two (2) PN 1810 washers and the two (2) PN
3857 screws.
7. If operating the Model 860 with a Carpenter Model 93, Model 97A, Model 930, or Model
970, insert the PN 8672 straight tube into the PN 8669 tube pivot block and tighten with
the PN 4849 screw assembly. The black plastic stop on the PN 8672 straight tube should
be tight against the PN 8669 tube pivot block. (If operating the Model 860 with a
Carpenter Model 36A/36B or Model 360, the PN 8672 straight tube will be installed
when positioning the Model 860 to the material processing machine.)
8. Loosen the height adjustment locking nut and position the Model 860 to the correct
height for operation. Once the Model 860 is at its correct operating height, lock the
height adjustment nut.
