A
Using the ROM Monitor
This appendix describes the ROM monitor (also called the bootstrap program), which is the firmware
that runs when you power on or restart the Cisco VG202 and Cisco VG204 voice gateways (VG). During
normal operation, the ROM monitor helps to initialize the processor hardware and boot the operating
system software. You can also use the ROM monitor to help you isolate or rule out hardware problems
that you encounter while installing your voice gateway.

Entering the ROM Monitor Mode
To use the ROM monitor, you must be using a terminal or PC that is connected to the voice gateway over
the console port.
Perform these steps to configure the voice gateway to boot up in ROM monitor mode the next time it is
rebooted.
