4.4.2 Filling the Feeder with Food
The mouse and rat feeders can hold approximately 76 and 146 cubic centimeters of powdered food,
respectively. You will need the rod used for assembly and it is recommended to use a paper cup for pouring
the powdered food into the hopper. The lip of the paper cup can be squeezed into a funnel shape to deliver
more food into the hopper and less into the bowl.
Do not fill the feeder assembly on the mass scale. The procedure for filling the feeder can
apply excessive force and damage the scale.
• Fill the paper cup with enough food to fill the feeder assembly and set aside.
• Insert the end of the rod through the screen of the hopper and fully compress the push plate and
spring. Then use one hand to hold the rod, push plate, and spring in this fully compressed position.
