provided to update the app. Accept the default questions in the pop up menus and ‘install’
the latest version. This should only take a few seconds. You will be presented with the Plato
app again when the install has finished.
Alternatively, it is possible to check for updates from within the app as explained in section
14.1.1
System Firmware
1. Close the Plato app by selecting the Android backspace icon on the right of the screen (It’s
the bottom icon of the three displayed). You may have to press this several times before it
asks if you would like to close the app. This will take you to the Android home screen.
2. Select the Android menu icon in the middle on right hand side of the screen (circle with 6
dots in)
3. Select the ‘settings’ icon.
4. Scroll down and select “About tablet”
5. Select "additional system update” to upgrade your firmware upgrade to the latest version.
If you are already on the latest update, the pop up message will confirm that. If not, select
the upgrade button and a download will now begin. *Please note* Your Plato unit will
reboot twice during the upgrade process. Please don’t turn off the unit or press anything
until this process has completed. You will be presented with the Plato app when finished.
3.8. Advanced Menu Options Overview
The advanced menu options provide additional controls which are not related to the normal
day to day operation of Plato or its control app. The specific options available vary slightly
depending on whether the app is run on a Plato device, or a standard Android smartphone or
tablet, as some options are not relevant to a tablet or smartphone. This section will describe
all options available to the Plato device itself.
3.8.1. Search
The search option provides a context based search function. Search functions are available
for Media Library and Internet Radio functions, and are described in more detail in later
sections 8.2 & 9.3.
3.8.2. Video mode select
The video mode select option provides a mechanism to configure the HDMI output video
display mode.
Note that this icon is only available on Plato devices.
Before changing these settings, check that your HDMI device is correctly connected to your
Plato unit. See section 2.3.8 for connection details.
