6.3. Upgrading the Firmware
Before starting, please check first if you have all the following items
1. File FLxxxx.HEX for Assistant or VSxxx.ASX for Assistant-S containing required firmware version
on your hard Disc or floppy disc.
The latest firmware version is published regularly on the Cue’s web site www.cue.cz.
2. Windows PC with one free serial port.
3. Windows 95/98/NT/2000 with installed Terminal program or HyperTerminal in Windows
95/98/NT/2000.
4. Communication cable between the Assistant or Assistant-S and a PC.
Start the service mode as described above.
For upgrading the Assistant or Assistant-S firmware select D. On the PC monitor the following
message appears.

* * * DOWNLOAD FLASH MEMORY * * *
Do you really wish to reprogram flash memory ? (Yes/No)
If you really have new file FLxxxx.HEX for Assisatnt or VSxxx.ASX for Assistant-S and you want to
continue select Y.
On the PC monitor the message (for Assistant
) appears.
YES - Download start!
Erasing flash memory :
Prog. all zero start !!
Prog. all zero end !!
Erase bytes start !!

) appears.
YES - Download start!
Send HEX - file... mode: 19200,8,N,1,XON-XOFF
After select Transfers in menu of HyperTerminal, Send Text File.
Choose proper setting of
• Drives and Directory following the path to FLxxx.HEX (Assistant) or VSxxx.ASX (Assistant-S) file.
• File Name fill in FLxxx.HEX (Assistant) or VSxxx.ASX (Assistant-S) file name
where "xxx" responds required upgrade version. Confirm with OK.
