Operating
Conditions
3.5.1 Winter Operation
Lube Oil Viscosity
-Selectthe oil viscosity(SAE grade) according
to the ambient temperature before starting
the engine, see 4.1.2.
- Increase oil changefrequency when operat-
ing below
-10°C,
see 6.1.1.
Diesel Fuel
- Use winter-grade diesel fuel for operation
below 0 °C, see 4.2.2.
Coolant
- Mixture ratio
of
anti-freeze / water for mini-
mum temperature (max. -35°C),
see 4.3.1.
Additional Maintenance Work
- Drain the sludge from the fuel tank once a
week (undo the sludge drain screw).
-If
necessary, adjust oilbath tilter oil level,
like the engine oil, to the ambienttemperture.
- Below
-20°C,
after removing the starter if
necessary, smear the ring gear on the fly-
wheel via the pinion bore from time to time
with cold-resistant grease. (e.g. Bosch
grease FT 1 V 31).
Cold Start Assistance
-Theheaterflange
is
automaticallyinitialised at
temperatures
< -25°C.
Battery
- Efficient cold starting necessitates that
the
battery is well-charged, see 6.7.1.
-The starting limit temperatures can be low-
ered by 4-5 °C by heating the bat-
teryuptoabout20
°C.

so, removethe
battery and store
in
a warm place).
