What does a zone fault mean on my DSC Control Panel?
- AAmy KellerSep 3, 2025
A zone fault on your DSC Control Panel indicates an open circuit on one or more fire zones or a short circuit. Ensure fire zones have a 5.6K resistor (Green, Blue, Red) connected. Remove the wire leads from the Z and COM terminals and measure the resistance of the wire leads. If there is an open circuit, it indicates a break in the wiring or a disconnected resistor. Connect a 5.6K resistor (Green, Blue, Red) across the Z and COM terminals to see if the trouble clears. If PGM2 is used as a 2-wire smoke detector input, ensure the correct 2.2K end-of-line resistor (Red, Red, Red) is connected across PGM2 and AUX+ terminals. For wireless devices, a zone fault can happen if a device has not checked in within the programmed time.
