able to pivot when the lid is opened. Adjust if necessary. Figure 6 shows installation
of a TSP support stay.

Open the inlet hood and check that it opens freely. The stay is used to support the
weight of the inlet hood during filter changes and calibration. The stay also prevents
the lid from opening too far. The stay acts like a catch to prevent the lid accidentally
falling. Move the stay towards you to release the catch. Close the lid again and check
that the cassette is evenly clamped when the thumbscrews are tightened.
Whenever the sampler needs to be transported, remove the inlet from the HiVol and
pack the items separately in the original cartons.

Size Selective Inlet (SSI) Assembly (Option)
The SSI is packaged basically complete; only minor assembly is necessary. When
removing the SSI from the shipping carton, take care not to damage or knock any
part. Remove the cushioning material, lift the SSI from the carton and place it on the
floor or on a workbench. Save the shipping container and packing material for future
use.
1. Release the four inlet hook-catches and remove the top portion of the SSI.
Place the top portion up-side down to prevent damage to the acceleration
nozzles and seals.
2. Release the collection shim from its four clips and using the plastic handles,
lift the shim carefully past the nozzles and out of the inlet.
3. Place the collection shim with the handle side up on a clean flat surface and
spray the area between the circular cut-outs with a generous coating of Dow
Corning “Slipicone” Silicone (or #316). Do not substitute any other grease or
oil without contacting the supplier; particle bounce characteristics may be
affected by changing the viscosity of the grease.
4. Using only the plastic handles, return the greased collection shim (greased side
up) to the sampler inlet and secure with the four shim clips.
