Lubricate threads with a lubricant giving friction coefficient between 0.08 to
0.14. To prevent galling when using stainless steel fasteners, a lubricant
containing MoS2 is recommended.
Stainless steel fasteners tend to gall while being tightened. The risk of galling or
thread seizing can be reduced by:
• Using recommended lubrication.
• Tighten the screws in the sequence indicated in the figure below.
• Tighten fasteners with low rpm’s; without interruptions.
• Apply only light pressure, see Table 25: Screw torque on page 87.
