Troubleshooting
Important:Itisessentialthatalloperatorsafetymechanismsbeconnectedandinproperoperating
conditionpriortomoweruse.
Whenaproblemoccurs,donotoverlookthesimplecauses.Forexample:startingproblemscouldbecaused
byanemptyfueltank.
Thefollowingtablelistssomeofthecommoncausesoftrouble.DoNotattempttoserviceorreplacemajor
itemsoranyitemsthatcallforspecialtimingoradjustmentsprocedures(suchasvalves,governor,etc.).Have
thisworkdonebyyourEngineServiceDealer.
Note:WhendisconnectingelectricalconnectorsDoNotpullonthewirestoseparatetheconnectors.
ProblemPossibleCauseCorrectiveAction
1.PTOisengaged.
1.DisengagethePTO.
2.Parkingbrakeisnotset.2.Settheparkingbrake.
3.Speedcontrolleverisnotinneutral
position.
3.Ensurethespeedcontrolleverisinthe
neutralposition.
4.Batterydoesnothaveafullcharge.
4.
Chargethebattery.SeeCheckBattery
ChargeandRecommendedJump
StartingProceduresectionsin
Maintenance.
5.Electricalconnectionsarecorroded,loose
orfaulty.
5.Checktheelectricalconnectionsfor
goodcontact.Cleanconnectorterminals
thoroughlywithelectricalcontactcleaner,
applydielectricgreaseandreconnect.
6.Fuseisblown.6.Replacetheblownfuse.
Starterdoesnotcrank.
7.Relayorswitchisdefective.7.ContactanAuthorizedServiceDealer.
1.Fueltankisempty.1.Fillthefueltank.

betweenthe“SLOW”and“FAST”
positions,andthechokeisinthe“ON”
positionforacoldengine(exceptKohler
EFI)orthe“OFF”positionforawarm
engine.
4.Dirtinfuellter.4.Replacethefuellter.
5.Dirt,water,orstalefuelisinthefuel
system.
5.ContactanAuthorizedServiceDealer.
6.Aircleanerisdirty.
6.Cleanorreplacetheaircleanerelement.
7.Electricalconnectionsarecorroded,loose
orfaulty.
7.Checktheelectricalconnectionsfor
goodcontact.Cleanconnectorterminals
thoroughlywithelectricalcontactcleaner,
applydielectricgreaseandreconnect.
