9.4.5 Jointing/surfacing of small workpieces

Operation
1. Take note of general procedures for authorized
working techniques.
2. Keep handling auxiliaries at hand:
wooden pushing stick / push block
The pushing stick should not be thicker than the
workpiece.
3. Adjust guard rail - Machining the workpiece.
See chapter entitled: >Premilling< / >Planing<

Warning! Risk of injury!
When surfacing or jointing small workpieces, use pushing strips and a push block.
Use an auxiliary fence with the minimum measurements to guide the workpiece safely.

9.4.4 Jointing

1. Take note of general procedures for authorized
working techniques.
2. Allow the planer bridge guard to rest on the planer
table and cover the cutterblock with the guard rail
excepting the width of the workpiece.
3. Press the workpiece against the planer fence and
guide evenly over the cutterblock.
4. As soon as the workpiece extends far enough into the
receiving planer table, place your left hand onto it
and push it over the cutterblock without stopping.
Note: To obtain exact joints, use only evenly grown wood without any knots.
