tion to any relevant tra
c signs. If you want
to drive into one of these regions, inform
yourself in advance whether radar sensors
are installed in your vehicle.
WARNING
Sensors are subject to physical system
limits. E
xternal sources of interference,
e.g. from other vehicles, can impair func-
tioning of the sensors and restrict the
functions of the assistance systems. If the
system does not function as expected,
this can lead to accidents and serious or
fatal injuries.
·
Always pay attention to the trac sit-
uation and the area around the vehicle.
·
Ensure that your speed and driving style
are always appropriate for the current
visibility, weather and road/trac con-
ditions.
Infotainment system and an-
t
ennas
The aerials for the Infotainment system are
installed at dierent points in the vehicle:
In the exterior mirrors.
On the roof of the vehicle.
On the inside of the rear window.
On the inside of the rear side windows.
Aerials on the interior of the windows can
be identified as thin wires.
If the vehicle equipment includes aerials in-
stalled in the exterior mirrors, subsequent
metal chrome-plating of the exterior mir-
rors, e.g. with chrome-plated design caps,
can cause significant interference or loss of
the receive and transmit properties of ra-
dio, mobile communications and navigation
services.
NOTICE
Aerials located on the inside of the win-
dows c
ould be damaged by corrosive or
acidic substances or if hard objects rub
against the window.
·
Never ax stickers over metal wires.
·
Never clean the a
erials with corrosive or
acidic agents.
NOTICE
A retrofitted Infotainment system tha
t is
not compatible with the aerial amplifier in-
stalled as standard may damage the aerial
amplifier.
·
Consult a suitably qualified workshop
before retrofitting an Infotainment sys-
tem.
Component protection
Some electronic components and con-
trol units are fitted with c
omponent
protection as standard, e.g. the Info-
tainment system.
The component protection permits a suita-
bly qualified workshop to legitimately in-
stall or replace components and control
units.
The component protection prevents the
factory-supplied components from being
operated without restrictions outside the
vehicle in the following situations:
Installation in other vehicles, e.g. aer
the.
Operation of components outside the ve-
hicle.
If a text message about component pro-
tection appears in the display of the instru-
ment cluster or the screen of the Infotain-
ment system, go to a suitably qualified
workshop.
