2. Check the tyres for visible damage.
3.
If the tyre is not visibly damaged, drive
to the nearest filling station at low
speed. Then check the tyre pressures
and adjust if necessary.
4. If the tyre is damaged, change the dam-
aged wheel → page 364. If necessary,
seek assistance from a suitably quali-
fied workshop.
Or: Use the breakdown set to seal the
damaged tyre and then inflate it
→ page 374.
5. Re-synchronise the Tyre Pressure Loss
Indicator → page 356.
6. If the fault persists, consult a suitably
qualified workshop.
Fault in the Tyre Pressure Loss Indi-
c
ator
The indicator lamp fla
shes for around 1 mi-
nute and then remains lit up yellow contin-
uously.
There is a system fault.
1.
Do not drive on!
2.
Switch the ignition o and then back on
again.
3. Re-synchronise the Tyre Pressure Loss
Indicator → page 356.
4. If the fault persists, consult a suitably
qualified workshop.
Driving on unpaved roads for long pe-
riods, or a sporty driving style, can
temporarily deactivate the Tyre Pressure
Loss Indicator. In the event of a malfunc-
tion, the indicator lamp will flash for around
1 minute and then light up continuously.
However, the indicator lamp will go out
when the road conditions or driving style
change.

Function of the Tyre Pressure
Monitoring System
The Tyre Pressure Monitoring System
warns the driver if the tyre pressures
are too low.
T
he Tyre Pressure Monitoring System
(TPM) monitors the tyre pressure of the
four wheels while the vehicle is in motion
using pressure sensors on the tyres.
The recommended tyre pressure for the
factory-fitted tyres is indicated on the tyre
pressure sticker on the driver’s door pillar
→ page 350.
The tyre pressure of all tyres, including the
spare wheel or temporary spare wheel,
must checked once every month with cold
tyres and must correspond to the specifica-
tions of the vehicle manufacturer on the
tyre pressure sticker. If the tyre size of the
fitted tyres diers from the specified value
on the type plate or tyre pressure sticker,
the correct tyre pressure must be deter-
mined.
As an additional safety feature, the vehicle
is equipped with a Tyre Pressure Monitoring
System (TPMS) where an indicator lamp
for low tyre pressure lights up if the pres-
sure in one or more of the tyres is much too
low. If the indicator lamp for low tyre pres-
sure lights up, the vehicle should therefore
be stopped as quickly as possible. The tyres
should then be checked and inflated to the
correct pressure. Driving with a tyre pres-
sure that is significantly too low will cause
the tyre to overheat and can lead to tyre
damage. If the tyre pressure is insucient,
this will also reduce the fuel economy and
service life of the tyre tread and can impair
the handling and braking ability of the vehi-
cle.
The Tyre Pressure Monitoring System does
not replace regular maintenance and in-
spection of the tyres. The driver is responsi-
ble for ensuring that the correct tyre pres-
sure is maintained at all times, even if the
Tyre Pressure Monitoring System does not
