Operation
With the appropriate software you can use your SmartCard as an alternative to password protection,
but also as a digital signa ture, for encrypting your e-mails or for home banking.
We recommend that you always use two SmartCards. Always keep one of the SmartCards
in a safe pla ce if you are carrying the other SmartCa rd with you.
In order to be a ble to take a dvan tage of all th e security features of your system, you
will need a CardOS SmartCard from Fujitsu Technology Solutions.
The S martCard can only be used with a PIN so maxim um protection is maintained
even when the SmartCard is lost. In order to maximise your security, the CardOS
SmartCard gets disabled if three incorrect attempts are made to en ter the PIN.
When u sing your CardOS SmartCard for the rst time, you have to enter the preset PIN
"12345678" or the PIN that h as b een informed to you by your system administrator.
Mounting the SmartCar

Fit the SmartCard sensor as described in the "System expansions and repairs" manual.
Inserting the SmartCard
Do not use f orce when inserting and removing the SmartCard.
Make sure that foreign objects do not fall into the SmartCard reader.
