Replacement routines
4.8 Replacing the IDTEMP combo
This board includes two important system components:
EEPROM for the chassis ID and ident number of the server
Temperature sensor for monitoring the ambient temperature
Data for the EEPROM and current temperature values are transmitted to the
system board via the I
2
C bus. The IDTEMP combo must be properly installed in
order to:
correctly monitor the system temperature
integrate into the server management environment
install the server using ServerView Installation Manager
The IDTEMP combo is located within the front panel fan board (see figure 12).
Ê Open the server as described in section "Opening the server" on page 21.
Remove the following components:
all of the fans (for a description see the Operating Manual)
all memory boards and memory dividers (for a description see the
Options Guide)
I Make a note about the slot from which you pulled each memory
board for you have to replace it back into the same slot.
Ê Remove the fan box (see page 27).
