Also, an application running might be consuming a lot of power by frequently accessing the hard disk or optical drive; use the mains adapter as much as possible. Finally, the screen brightness might be set to maximum; reduce the brightness via Control Panel – Hardware and Sounds – Windows Mobility Center to lower energy consumption.
