3.1.3.2 CLI Operation
The Comander Rack can be controlled and configured using a simple command-line
interface ("CLI"), which can be accessed via a serial port, TCP/SSL, or using the JTAG
connector on the system board. Use of the CLI is reserved for Geoquip engineers
only, and is beyond the scope of this manual.
3.1.3.3 IP Address Reset Mode
If a Comander unit's IP address is unknown, or is set to a value which is inaccessible
using your local network, it will not be possible to access its Configurator using a web
browser running on your computer. To recover a unit in this situation, you will need to
reset its address to 0.0.0.0 by rebooting it in IP Address Reset Mode – this will enable
you to allocate a new IP address to the unit using the DIGI Discovery program – this is
available from Geoquip, and is described in detail in section 7 below.
To configure the unit for IP Address Reset mode, set both FUNC switches to 8, then
reboot the Comander. This will allow you to set a correct IP address, subnet mask and
default gateway using the DIGI Discovery program.
Once you have entered the new network settings, remember to
change the FUNC switches back to their normal run-time settings
before you reboot the Comander. If you reboot it with both
switches still set to 8, it will reset its IP address to 0.0.0.0 again.
3.1.4 Recovering a Comander Rack With Lost Configurator Password
If you lose the password for your Comander's Configurator, you have to contact
Geoquip and ask them to revert your Comander unit to factory settings. This requires a
site visit by Geoquip engineers.
If the Configurator password is lost, there is no way to recover it
or regain access to the Configurator without a site visit from
Geoquip engineers.
