The GDPS-1 plastic strip can easily be cut and trimmed with scissors or a knife, and
should be cut off far enough from each post to allow a smooth bend of the sensor cable
around it. Note that the sensor should not be loose enough to strike against the post in
adverse weather conditions.
5.3.4 Fitting the Sensor into Rigid Conduit
In some installations it may be a requirement to protect sections of the Interceptor
cable by threading it into rigid conduit. In order to fit the cable into the conduit, two
people will be needed to ensure that the cable is not damaged by the procedure. One
should reel out the cable gently from the drum (mounted on a de-reeler or held on a
pole by a third person) while the second should pull the other end carefully through the
conduit.
Care should be taken with large and heavy reels to turn the drum
itself while unreeling - this will prevent excessive force being
applied to the cable.
The rigid conduit may be fixed to the fence using SDTY-3 Stainless Steel wire ties.
These ties should be spaced at 200mm intervals as with unprotected sensor. This is to
ensure that the conduit is tightly strapped to the fence and the fabric will not cause
nuisance alarms by striking against it in adverse weather conditions.
