For 5-lead set, attach the chest electrode (V) to one of the indicated positions as below:
n V1: On the 4
th
intercostal space at the right sterna margin.
n V2: On the 4
th
intercostal space at the left sterna margin.
n V3: Midway between V2 and V4 electrodes.
n V4: On the 5
th
intercostal space at the left clavicular line.
n V5: On the left anterior axillary line, horizontal with V4 electrode.
n V6: On the left middle axillary line, horizontal with V4 electrode.
n V3R-V7R: On the right side of the chest in positions corresponding to those on the left.
n VE: Over the xiphoid position. For the placement of V-leads on the back, it should be attached on one
of the following sites.
n V7 : On the 5
th
intercostal space at the left posterior axillary line of back.
n V7R: On the 5
th
intercostal space at the right posterior axillary line of back.
The 12-lead
In American Standards, the 12-lead (10 lead cables) electrodes should be placed on limbs and chests. Limbs electrodes
should be placed on the soft skin of both hands and feet, and the chest electrode should be placed according to the
doctor's needs. As shown below:
