Hardware
The edge device used in the HCP Anywhere edge appliance is a rack-
optimized server for solutions, 2U single-node from Hitachi. The following
figure shows the front view of the 2U server:
The operating system
The HCP Anywhere edge appliance comes preinstalled with the Windows
Server 2016 OS. Windows Server supports enterprise-level data storage,
applications, and communications. The HCP Anywhere edge appliance is
also configured with the following:
•
A C:\ drive for the Windows Server operating system.The C:\ drive uses
the two hard disk drives in the back of the server.
•
A D:\ drive for any data that is stored on the HCP Anywhere edge
appliance. The D:\ drive uses the hard disk drives in the front of the
server.Depending on your storage needs, the front of the server can
have six or twelve hard disk drives.
•
A Microsoft Windows Server license sticker located on top of the rack-
optimized server for solutions, 2U single-node
You are responsible for maintaining the Windows Server software. For more
information, see Chapter 5: "Maintaining the HCP Anywhere edge
appliance".
The HCP Anywhere edge software
The HCP Anywhere edge software is a cloud storage gateway for Hitachi
Content Platform that is designed to provide SMB/NFS file services and data
protection at remote and branch offices or can be deployed at the main data
centers.
