PISTON INSTALLATION
Carefully install the piston rings into the piston ring
grooves with the markings facing up.
• Do not damage the piston ring by spreading the ends
too far.
• Do not confuse the top and second rings.
• To install the oil ring, install the spacer first, then
install the side rails.
• After installing the rings they should rotate freely,
without sticking.
Clean any gasket material from the cylinder mating
surface of the crankcase.
When cleaning the cylinder mating surface, place a shop
towel over the cylinder opening to prevent dust or dirt
enter the engine.
Apply engine oil solution to the connecting rod small end
inner surface.
PISTON RING
Be careful not to damage the piston and rings during
installation.
Stagger the piston ring end gaps 120° degrees apart
from each other.
Stagger the side rail end gaps as shown.
