1) Ream the valve guide
to
remove any deposits before
checking the valve guide

Insert the valve guide reamer from the combustion
chamber side
of
the head and always rotate the ream-
er clockwise.
2) Measure and record the valve guide

3) Substrate each valve stem

guide
I.D.

obtain the stem-to-guide clearance.
4)
If
the stem-to-guide clearance is out of the specification,
determine if a new valve with standard dimensions would
bring the clearance within tolerance.
If
so,
replace the
valve as necessary.
If
the clearance is out of the specifi-
cation with the new valve, replace the cylinder head as
assembly.

VALVE

REFACING
Recondition the valve seat. Follow the valve seat cutter
Be careful not
to
grind the seat more than necessary.
