Softkey A front panel key whose function label is
on the bottom portion of the display
screen just above its location, so that
label may be changed to indicate differing
key functions within the operational
context of the defined screens.
Soft Limit The dosing amount (upper and/or lower
amount) that when assigned to a drug can
be overridden based on confirmation.
Defined by the hospital for each drug in
its Drug Library. The soft limits for a
particular drug entry may vary across
CCAs.
Standard
Programming

Standby A delivery program state that resembles a
delayed start for a line in all respects, but
status display of STANDBY instead of
DELAYED. A press of the START key (and
a Start Softkey if necessary) will begin the
programmed delivery.

Tall-Man
Lettering
Tall-Man lettering uses upper-case letters
in combination with lower-case letters to
help clinicians differentiate among
sound-alike or look-alike drug names.
Certain Hospira Default Library drug
names are displayed in Tall-Man lettering.
Truncate To round-down to the last whole number
(e.g., 103.7 would be 103).
Units A Drug Amount (without a quantity of
mass referent) adopted as the United
States Pharmacopoeia (USP) standard of
measure for use in a Concentration.
