Introduction
This chapter provides service information for your HP 53131A/132A/181A
and is divided into seven major sections:

how to return the instrument for service.
• About the HP 53131A/132A Calibration Menu (page 2-6).
This section contains reference information that gives a complete
overview of the calibration menu of the HP 53131A/132A.
• The HP 53131A/132A Calibration Procedures (page 2-15).
This section provides step-by-step procedures for calibrating the
HP 53131A/132A.
• About the HP 53181A Calibration Menu (page 2-25). This section
contains reference information that gives a complete overview of the
calibration menu of the HP 53181A.
• The HP 53181A Calibration Procedures (page 2-31). This section
provides step-by-step procedures for calibrating the HP 53181A.
• Pre-Troubleshooting Information (page 2-36). This section
provides you with pertinent information such as safety considerations,
recommended test equipment, repair and after-service considerations,
and assembly identification and location.
• Troubleshooting the Counter (page 2-45). This section provides
you with troubleshooting procedures that isolate the faulty assembly
or module.
If the instrument is under warranty, return the instrument to
Hewlett-Packard for service. Refer to the first section of this chapter titled
“Returning the Instrument to Hewlett-Packard for Service.” If you decide
to troubleshoot the instrument yourself, refer to the section titled
“Troubleshooting the Counter.”
