System Software
The Series 500 can
be
configured
with
the
HP
BASIC
System
or
with
HP-UX, a UNIX system
that
has
been
specially
enhanced
for
the
engineering environment. The
HP
BASIC System
can
only be
ordered
for
the
Model 520
Integrated Workstation version.
HP-UX can
be
ordered
on
all models. Both systems require a
mass
storage device
from
which
the
operating
system
can be loaded into
memory
as
part
of
the
power-up
procedure.

the
BASIC Language
and
Operating
System (single-user) which allows access
to
the
