The self-test messages displayed by the operating system consist
of:

- This message indicates that either the contents of the
NVM
are not
valid at powerup or the clock has not
been
set since this condition was detected. Possible causes: a
bad
battery
on
the SCM board, or computer powered down for more than 2 weeks. The condition
does not stop the system operation.

This error message
is
displayed as a result of the self-test failure of an

device. The select
code
subaddress denote the device,
and
the device
dependent
error information indicates the nature of
the failure. System operation can continue provided that use of the failed device
is
not required.

- When the system
is
powered up,
or
a system
reset
is
executed, the checksum for every code segment of the operating system
is
computed
and
compared to a checksum
in
the operating system code. When the checksums
do
not agree for a
segment, the segment
number
is
stored.
As
a result, the segment reported
is
the last segment for
which a checksum error was detected. The operation of the system
is
not halted, however, further
operation
is
at
your own
risk.

(counting from the bottom of the stack).
This error occurs when the system
is
able to get completely through the board self-test
and
the
loader self-test,

detected by the operating system. The message
indicates the type of
component
which has failed
and
its
relative position
in
the stack. Operation of
the system can continue,
if the failed board
is
not required,
