CAUTION: To prevent loss of work and damage to the computer or drive:
Before handling a drive, ensure that you are discharged of static electricity. While handling a drive, avoid
touching the connector.
Handle a drive carefully; do not drop it.
Do not use excessive force when inserting a drive.
Avoid exposing a hard drive to liquids, temperature extremes, or products that have magnetic fields
such as monitors or speakers.
1. Prepare the computer for disassembly (Preparation for Disassembly on page 87).
2. Remove the access panel (
Access Panel on page 88).
3. Remove the front bezel (
Front Bezel on page 89).
4. Rotate the drive cage to the upright position.
5. Disconnect the power and data cables from the back of the hard drive.
6. Remove the two retainer screws that secure the drive to the bay (1), and then slide the drive back
and out of the bay (2).
To install a hard drive, reverse the above procedure.
NOTE: When replacing a drive, transfer the guide screw from the old drive to the new one.
