HAFM Server Configuration
This chapter describes how to connect the HAFM server to the LAN and configure its
network information.
Connecting the HAFM Server to a LAN
You can connect the HAFM server to the single customer-supplied private corporate
Ethernet LAN with or without an HP-supplied Ethernet hub. Optionally, you can
configure a separate dedicated private LAN between the HAFM server and the switch
products that it manages. The optional private LAN requires the installation of an
additional customer-supplied PCMCIA NIC in the HAFM server. The dedicated
private LAN precludes the use of the HP OpenView Storage Area Manager
application.
To connect the HAFM server to the LAN, complete the following steps:
1. Connect one end of the Ethernet patch cable (supplied with the HAFM server) to
the rightmost RJ-45 connector at the rear of the HAFM server (labeled Public
LAN Interface, as shown in Figure 7–1. Public refers to sharing the LAN with
devices other than the managed switch products).
