5. Remove the access panel (Remove the access panel on page 44).
6. Disconnect any internal cables that are connected to the expansion board.
7. If any full-length expansion boards are installed, release the full-length expansion board retainer (Release
the full-length expansion board retainer on page 44).
8. Remove the PCIe riser cage:
• Primary or secondary PCIe riser cage (Removing and replacing the primary or secondary PCIe
riser cages on page 54)
• Tertiary PCIe riser cage (Removing and replacing the tertiary PCIe riser cage on page 55)
9. Remove the expansion board.
To replace the component, reverse the removal procedure.
Removing and replacing the fan cage
Procedure
1. Power down the server (Powering down the server on page 41).
2. Remove all power:
a. Disconnect each power cord from the power source.
b. Disconnect each power cord from the server.
3. Do one of the following:
• Extend the server from the rack (Extend the server from the rack on page 42).
• Remove the server from the rack (Remove the server from the rack on page 42).
4. Remove the access panel (Remove the access panel on page 44).
5. Remove the fan cage.
