• Extend the server from the rack (Extend the server from the rack on page 42).

4. Remove the access panel (Remove the access panel on page 44).
5. Remove the fan cage (Removing and replacing the fan cage on page 61).
6. Remove all drives (Removing and replacing drives on page 46).
7. Remove the drive backplane.
To replace the component, reverse the removal procedure.
Removing and replacing a rear serial port interface (primary/
secondary)
Procedure
1. Power down the server(Powering down the server on page 41).
2. Remove all power:
a. Disconnect each power cord from the power source.
b. Disconnect each power cord from the server.
3. Do one of the following:
• Extend the server from the rack (Extend the server from the rack on page 42).
• Remove the server from the rack (Remove the server from the rack on page 42).
4. Remove the access panel (Remove the access panel on page 44).
5. Using a T-10 Torx screwdriver, remove the screws securing the serial port. Then, disconnect and remove
the serial cable.
