3. Advanced Procedures
The capabilities of the TCX50 tire changer family allow the user to utilize numerous advanced
procedures on a variety of rims and tires. For the operator to take advantage of these
features, this section explains in detail what additional steps can be taken.
3.1 Advanced Bead Breaking Procedures
Bead Breaking “AH” Wheels (e.g. BMW M3, M5, Some Porsches, Range Rover, Lancia, etc.)
“AH” (Asymmetrical Humps), “Bead Locking System” wheels may be identied by looking on
the back of a rim for “AH” in the rim size designation casting (e.g. 8X17-AH).
“AH” wheels are designed so that the lowest point of the safety hump is located at the valve
stem or 180 degrees out. These two points are where it is easiest to break the bead from the
bead seat.

Bead Breaking “AH” Wheels as follows:
Swing the bead breaker arm out and away from the housing.
Position the wheel against the side of the tire changer between the bead breaker arm and the
housing.
Rotate the wheel so that the valve stem is in line with or 180 degrees from the blade.
