ERROR SENSING
The
system
card
and
the
diskette
adapter
supply
the
error
sensing
for
the
diskette
drive.
The
system
soft-
ware
maintains
a
counter
in
memory
to
record
read/write
errors.
If
an
error
occurs
durIng
a
read/write
operation,
the
error
is
counted
and
another
read/write
operation
is
performed.
The
read
error
s
ens
ing
procedure
is
'performed
only
three
additional
times.
When
a
successful
read/write
operation
occurs
before
the
counter
reaches
its
limit,
a
soft
error
is
recorded
in
the
error
log
and
the
diskette
operation
proceeds
normally.
If
the
system
electronics
does
not
get
a
successful
read/write
operation,
a
diskette
read/write
error
prompt
will
be
dis-
played
on
the
display.
