7.1ControlsProtectionSystem
Thewheelchaircontrolssystemisequippedwithanoverload
protection.
Ifthedriveisseverelyoverloadedoveralongperiodoftime
(forexample,whendrivingupasteephill)andespecially
whentheambienttemperatureishigh,thecontrolssystem
couldoverheat.Inthiscase,thewheelchairperformanceis
graduallyreduceduntilitstops.Thestatusdisplayshowsa
correspondingerrorcode(refertotheusermanualforyour
remote).Byswitchingthepowersupplyoffandbackon
again,theerrorcodeisclearedandthecontrolssystemis
switchedbackon.Itcanhowevertakeuptoveminutes
untilthecontrolssystemhascooleddownenoughforthe
drivetorestorefullperformanceagain.
Ifthedriveisstalledbyaninsurmountableobstacle,for
example,acurborsimilarwhichistoohigh,andthedriver
attemptsdrivingformorethan20secondsagainstthis
obstacle,thecontrolssystemautomaticallyswitchesoffto
preventthemotorsfrombeingdamaged.Thestatusdisplay
showsacorrespondingerrorcode(refertotheusermanual
ofyourremote).Byswitchingoffandbackonagain,the
errorcodeisclearedandthecontrolssystemisswitched
backon.
Adefectivemainfusemaybereplacedonlyafter
checkingtheentirecontrolssystem.Aspecialized

7.2Batteries
Powerissuppliedbytwo12Vbatteries.Thebatteriesare
maintenance-freeandonlyneedregularcharging.
Inthefollowing,youndinformationonhowtocharge,
handle,transport,store,maintain,andusebatteries.
7.2.1GeneralInformationonCharging
Newbatteriesshouldalwaysbefullychargedoncebefore
theirrstuse.Newbatterieswillbeattheirfullcapacity
afterhavingrunthroughapprox.10-20chargingcycles
(break-inperiod).Thisbreak-inperiodisnecessaryto
fullyactivatethebatteryformaximumperformanceand
longevity.Thus,rangeandrunningtimeofyourmobility
devicecouldinitiallyincreasewithuse.
Gel/AGMleadacidbatteriesdonothaveamemoryeffect
likeNiCdbatteries.
7.2.2GeneralInstructionsonCharging
Followtheinstructionslistedbelowtoensuresafeuseand
longevityofthebatteries:
•Charge18hourspriortoinitialusage.
•Werecommendchargingthebatteriesdailyafterevery
dischargeevenafterpartlydischarge,aswellaseach
nightovernight.Dependingonthelevelofdischarge,
itcantakeupto12hoursuntilthebatteriesarefully
chargedagain.
•WhenthebatteryindicatorreachestheredLEDrange,
chargethebatteriesforatleast16hours,evenifthe
displayreadsthatthechargeiscomplete.
•Trytoprovidea24hourchargeonceaweektomake
surethatbothbatteriesarefullycharged.
