•Undernormaloperation,onceamonththebattery
shouldbedischargeduntilallgreenandorangeLEDare
off.Thisshouldbedonewithinoneday.A16hour
chargeafterwardsisnecessaryasreconditioning.
7.2.8TransportingBatteries
Thebatteriessuppliedwithyourmobilitydeviceare
nothazardousgoods.Thisclassicationisbasedonthe
GermanGGVSHazardousGoodsRoadTransportOrdinances,
andtheIATA/DGRHazardousGoodsRailTransport/Air
TransportOrdinances.Batteriesmaybetransportedwithout
restrictions,whetherbyroad,railorbyair.Individual
transportcompanieshave,however,guidelineswhichcan
possiblyrestrictorforbidcertaintransportprocedures.
Pleaseaskthetransportcompanyregardingeachindividual
case.
7.2.9GeneralInstructionsonHandlingtheBatteries
•Nevermixandmatchdifferentbatterymanufacturersor
technologies,orusebatteriesthatdonothavesimilar
datecodes.
•NevermixgelwithAGMbatteries.
•Thebatteriesreachtheirendoflifewhenthedrive
rangeissignicantlysmallerthanusual.Contactyour
providerorservicetechnicianfordetails.
•Alwayshaveyourbatteriesinstalledbyaproperly
trainedmobilitydevicetechnicianorapersonwith
adequateknowledge.Theyhavethenecessarytraining
andtoolstodothejobsafelyandcorrectly.
7.2.10HowtoHandleDamagedBatteriesCorrectly

Corrosionandburnsfromacidleakageif
batteriesaredamaged
–Removeclothesthathavebeensoiledbyacid
immediately.
Aftercontactwithskin:
–Immediatelywashaffectedareawithlotsof
water.
Aftercontactwitheyes:
–Immediatelyrinseeyesunderrunningwaterfor
severalminutes;consultaphysician.
•Alwayswearsafetygogglesandappropriatesafety
clothingwhenhandlingdamagedbatteries.
•Placedamagedbatteriesinanacid-resistantreceptacle
immediatelyafterremovingthem.
•Onlyevertransportdamagedbatteriesinanappropriate
acid-resistantreceptacle.
•Washallobjectsthathavecomeintocontactwithacid
withlotsofwater .
