248 STARTING AND OPERATING
When brake service work is complete, the following steps
must be followed to reset the parking brake system to normal
operation:
• Ensure the vehicle is at a standstill.
• Press the brake pedal with moderate force.
• Apply the EPB Switch.
NOTE:
A dedicated message will appear in the instrument cluster
display if Brake Service Mode cannot be deactivated.
MANUAL TRANSMISSION — IF EQUIPPED
NOTE:
During cold weather, you may experience increased effort in
shifting until the transmission fluid warms up. This is
normal.
WARNING!
You can be badly injured working on or around a motor
vehicle. Do only that service work for which you have
the knowledge and the right equipment. If you have any
doubt about your ability to perform a service job, take
your vehicle to a competent mechanic.
WARNING!
You or others could be injured if you leave the vehicle
unattended without having the park brake fully applied.
The park brake should always be applied when the
driver is not in the vehicle, especially on an incline.
CAUTION!
• Never drive with your foot resting on the clutch pedal,
or attempt to hold the vehicle on a hill with the clutch
pedal partially engaged, as this will cause abnormal
wear on the clutch.
• Do not drive with your hand resting on the gear selector
as the force exerted, even if slight, could lead over time
to premature wear of the gearbox internal components.
