Application description:
Measures Vce(sat)-Ic and Vbe(sat)-Ic characteristics and extracts Vce(sat) and Vbe
(sat) parameters at the specified Ic and Ib. SMU pulse is used for Collector current
output and Base current output.
This measurement setup is an example of Classic Test mode for showing how the
classic test which is the measurement engine of the Application Test mode library is
constructed for executing a test and extracting parameters.
Note: This is the same measurement introduced in section 3-1-3.
A. Measurement Procedure: Vce(sat)-Ic_CT Classic Test
Refer to figure 3-35 for the following Step 1 to Step 23.
Step 1. Click the Preset group of My Favorite Setup.
Step 2. Select Example_CT preset group.
Step 3. Select Vce(sat)-Ic_CT (Vce(sat)-Ic_CT Classic Test).
Step 4. Press Recall button.
Step 5. Pre-defined example Vce(sat)-Ic_CT classic test setup – Channel Definition
page opens.
Channel Definition page sets up the SMUs and their measurement function.
The example uses "Multi Channel I/V Sweep" Classic Test mode for syn-
chronously sweeping both the collector current and the base current in
pulsed mode.
Step 6. Set Unit field appropriately depending on your B1505A and connection set-
ups.
If your B1505A is one HCSMU configuration (Note: maximum two HCSMUs
are allowed in the configuration), set HCSMU to the collector supply as in
the case of the example setup.
Note that both the collector and the base SMUs are set current sweep
source as VAR1.
The connection between the SMU definitions and the power BJT pins must
be matched to each other.
