Not all load sensors emit signals that are linear with the engine load. For this reason, the system
offers the possibility to choose between three load characteristics. This enables the upper/lower
areas to be made more sensitive or less sensitive.
The three load characteristics are linear, logarithmic and e-log and are explained in an overview on
below.

The load steps are divided in proportion
to the signal.
MAP-sensor

At lower loads the load signal is divided
over a smaller number of steps and at
higher loads it is divided over a larger
number of steps.
