12.8 Adjusting the rebound damping of the shock absorber
Caution
Risk of injury Parts of the shock absorber will move around if the shock absorber is detached incorrectly.
The shock absorber is filled with highly compressed nitrogen.

– Turn counterclockwise by the number of clicks corresponding
to the shock absorber type.

Comfort 23 clicks
Standard 15 clicks
Sport 12 clicks
Full payload 5 clicks

Turn clockwise to increase the damping; turn counter-
clockwise to reduce damping when the shock absorber
rebounds.
12.9 Adjusting the spring preload of the shock absorber
Warning
Danger of accidents Modifications to the suspension setting may seriously alter the handling characteris-
tic.
– Ride slowly to start with after making adjustments to get the feel of the new handling characteristic.

The spring preload defines the initial status of the spring operation on the shock absorber.
The best spring preload setting is achieved when it is set for the weight of the rider and that of any lug-
gage and a passenger, thus ensuring an ideal compromise between handling and stability.
Condition
The link fork is relieved of weight.
