Step 1. Make preparations for this task.
a. Remove the shipping bracket from the enclosure (see
“Remove a node from a rack” on page
45
).
Step 2. Remove the dust filter from the shipping bracket.

After this task is completed
• Install a replacement unit (see
“Install a dust filter” on page 60).
• If you are instructed to return the component, follow all of the packaging instructions and use any
packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
Install a dust filter
Follow instructions in this section to install a dust filter into the shipping bracket of an enclosure or the
security bezel of a node sleeve.
About this task
Attention:
• Read
“Installation Guidelines” on page 37 and “Safety inspection checklist” on page 38 to make sure that
you work safely.
• Touch the static-protective package that contains the component to any unpainted metal surface on the
node; then, remove it from the package and place it on a static-protective surface.
Important:
• Depending on the environment, check the status of the dust filter at least every 3 months to make sure it is
functional.
• It is recommended to have a dust filter installed when the server is in operation.
