Lenovo thinkpad 13 - External Monitor Problems

Solution:Ifyouhavemodifiedapartitiononyourinternalstoragedrivebyusingpartitionsoftware,
informationaboutthatpartition,orthemasterbootrecordmighthavebeendestroyed.
Dothefollowingtotrytosolvetheproblem:
1.Turnoffthecomputer,andthenturnitonagain.
2.Ifyoustillseeonlythepointeronthescreen,dothefollowing:
–Ifyouhaveusedpartitionsoftware,examinethepartitionontheinternalstoragedrivebyusingthe
software,andrecoverthepartitionifrequired.
–Usetherecoverysolutionstorestorethesystemtothefactorydefaultstate.
Iftheproblempersists,havethecomputerserviced.
•Problem:Myscreengoesblankwhilethecomputerison.
Solution:Yourscreensaverorpowermanagementmighthavebeenenabled.Dooneofthefollowing:
–TouchtheTrackPointpointingdeviceorthetrackpad,orpressakeytoexitthescreensaver.
–Pressthepowerbuttontoresumethecomputerfromsleeporhibernationmode.
Externalmonitorproblems
•Problem:Theexternalmonitorisblank.
Solution:Tobringuptheimage,pressthedisplay-modeswitchingkeyandselectthedesired
monitor.Iftheproblempersists,dothefollowing:
1.Connecttheexternalmonitortoanothercomputertomakesurethatitworks.
2.Reconnecttheexternalmonitortoyourcomputer.
3.Refertothemanualshippedwiththeexternalmonitortochecktheresolutionsandrefreshratesthat
aresupported.
–Iftheexternalmonitorsupportsthesameresolutionasthecomputerdisplayorahigherresolution,
viewoutputontheexternalmonitororonboththeexternalmonitorandthecomputerdisplay.
–Iftheexternalmonitorsupportsalowerresolutionthanthecomputerdisplay,viewoutputonthe
externalmonitoronly.(Ifyouviewoutputonboththecomputerdisplayandtheexternalmonitor,
theexternalmonitorscreenwillbeblankordistorted.)
•Problem:Youcannotsetahigherresolutionthanthepresentoneonyourexternalmonitor.
Solution:Makesurethatthemonitortypeandotherinformationiscorrect.Ifnecessary,updatethe
monitordriver.
•Problem:Thescreenisunreadableordistorted.
Solution:Makesurethat:
–Themonitorinformationiscorrectandtheappropriatemonitortypeisselected.Refertothesolution
totheaboveproblem.
–Makesurethatanappropriaterefreshrateisselectedbydoingthefollowing:
1.Connecttheexternalmonitortothemonitorconnector,andthenconnectthemonitortoan
electricaloutlet.
2.Turnontheexternalmonitorandthecomputer.
3.Right-clickonthedesktop,anddothefollowing:
–ForWindows7:ClickScreenresolution.
–ForWindows10:ClickDisplaysettings,showthedisplayedwindowinfullscreen,andthen
clickAdvanceddisplaysettings.
