Someofthedatastoredonthestoragedevicesmightbesensitive.Handingyourcomputerovertosomeone
elsewithoutdeletingtheloadedsoftware,suchasoperatingsystemsandapplicationsoftware,mighteven
violatelicenseagreements.Besuretodeletedatastoredonthestoragedevicesbeforeyoudisposeof,sell,

Youcanusethefollowingmethodstodeletedatafromthestoragedevices:
•MovethedatatotheRecycleBin,andthenemptytheRecycleBin.
•Deletethedata.
•Formatyourstoragedevices,usingthesoftwareforinitializingit.
•UsetherecoveryprogramprovidedbyLenovotobringthestoragedevicesbacktothefactorydefault
settings.
Theseoperations,however,onlychangethefilelocationofthedata;theydonotdeletethedataitself.In
otherwords,thedataretrievalprocessingisdisabledunderanoperatingsystemsuchasWindows.The
dataisstillthere,eventhoughitseemstobelost.Thus,itissometimespossibletoreadthedatabyuseof
specialsoftwarefordatarecovery.Thereisariskthatpeopleofbadfaithmightreadandmisusethecritical
dataonharddiskdrives,solid-statedrives,orhybriddrivesforunexpectedpurposes.
Topreventleakageofdata,itisimportantthatyoudeleteallthedatafromthestoragedeviceswhen
youdisposeof,sell,orhandoveryourcomputer.Youcandestroythedataphysicallybysmashingthe
storagedeviceswithahammer,ormagneticallybymeansofstrongmagneticpower,thusmakingthedata
unreadable.Butitisrecommendedthatyouusethesoftware(payware)orservice(payservice)developed
forthatpurpose.Theprocessmighttakeseveralhours.
