•Donotbindthepowercordtightlyaroundtheacpoweradaptertransformerpackwhenitisconnectedto
thetransformer.
•Beforeyouchargethebattery,makesurethatitstemperatureisatleast10°C(50°F).
•Youcanchargethebatterywhentheacpoweradapterisconnectedtothecomputer.Youneedto
chargethebatteryinanyofthefollowingsituations:
–WhenthebatteryiconintheWindowsnotificationareashowsalowpercentageofbatterypower
remaining.
–Whenthebatteryhasnotbeenusedforalongtime
Usingthebatterypower
Beforeyouusethebatterypower,ensurethatyoureadthefollowingnotices:
•“Generalbatterynotice”onpagex
•“Noticeforbuilt-inrechargeablebattery”onpagex
Itishardtopredictthebatterylifebetweencharges.Differentcomputercomponentsconsumepowerat
differentrates.Somecomponentsconsumepowerveryquickly,forexample,thecomputerdisplay,the
microprocessor,andthewirelessradios.Themoreyouusethepower-intensivecomponents,thefasteryou
consumepower.
Thebatteryisaconsumablesupply.Ifyourbatterybeginstodischargetooquickly,youmightconsider

Checkingthebatterystatus
Moveyourpointertothebattery-statusiconintheWindowsnotificationareatocheckthebatterystatus.
Thebattery-statusicondisplaysthepercentageofbatterypowerremainingandhowlongyoucanuse
yourcomputerbeforeyoumustchargethebattery.
Therateatwhichyouusebatterypowerdetermineshowlongyoucanusethebatteriesofyourcomputer
betweencharges.Becauseofdifferentuserhabitsandneeds,itisdifficulttopredicthowlongabattery
chargewilllast.Therearetwomainfactors:
•Howmuchenergyisstoredinthebatterywhenyoubegintowork.
•Thewayyouuseyourcomputer.Forexample:
–Howoftenyouaccessthestoragedrive.
–Howbrightyoumakethecomputerdisplay.
–Howoftenyouusethewirelessfeatures.
Chargingthebattery
Itisrecommendedthatyouchargethebatterywhenthebatterypowerremainingislow.Forexample:
•Whenyoufindthatthepercentageoftheremainingpowerislow.
•Whenthepoweralarmalertsyou.
