Step 1. Insert the backplate into the chassis with an angle. Make sure the pins are against the backplate on
the backside.
Step 2. Rotate the backplate up towards the front of the server.
Step 3. Close the retaining clips to secure the backplate in place.
After you install the simple-swap drive backplate, complete the following steps:
1. Connect the backplate cables to the system board and the RAID adapter (if installed). See “Internal
cable routing” on page 23 for more information.
2. Reinstall all the drives and drive fillers into the drive bays (see “Install a simple-swap drive” on page 77).
3. Install the top cover onto the server (see “Install the top cover” on page 75).
4. Install the server into the rack if necessary.
5. Reconnect power cords and all external cables.
Install the hot-swap drive backplane
Use this information to install the hot-swap drive backplane.
Before you install the 3.5-inch hot-swap drive backplane, complete the following steps:
1. Read the following section(s) to ensure that you work safely.
• “Installation Guidelines” on page 48
Notes:
• Depending on the configuration, the following illustration might differ slightly from your backplane.
• If the 95 W processor is used, the server does not support the ten 2.5-inch hot-swap drive backplane.
