3. Install the top cover (see “Install the top cover” on page 128).
4. Reconnect the power cords and any cables that you removed.
5. If the server is installed in a rack, reinstall the server into the rack.
6. Power on the server and any peripheral devices.
Install the LOM adapter
Use this procedure to install the LOM adapter.
Note: When both LOM adapter and ML2 adapter are installed to the server, the system can support up to
two additional network adapters.
Before installing the LOM adapter:
1. Read the safety information and installation guidelines (see
“Safety” on page iii and “Installation
Guidelines” on page 56
).
2. Touch the static-protective package that contains the component to any unpainted metal surface on the
server; then, remove it from the package and place it on a static-protective surface.
3. Make sure the LOM adapter to be installed supports the bandwidth of the network environment.
Following are the requirements:
• 1GbE LOM adapter: maximal bandwidth of network environment is 1GB.
• 10GbE LOM adapter: minimal bandwidth of network environment is 1GB.
4. Attach the mounting bracket with the two screws as illustrated.
