start if the shift l ever is in any
range except for “P” or “N”.
b) Check that the shift lever cannot
be moved from the “P” range
without depressing the brake ped-
al.
c) Check for smooth up-shift and
down-shift operation over a broad
range of driving conditions.
d) Check for smooth up-shift and
down-shift operation when the
shift range position is “S”.
D Check that the transmission
shifts up when the shift lever
is moved toward the front.
