10.2 Diagnostics and Troubleshooting
10.2.1 Error and Warning Log
The PLC CPU module logs warnings and errors during operation of the PLC. This log aids in troubleshooting
problems with the PLC. The Error/Warning Log can be accessed from the Online > Diagnosis > PLC
Errors/Warnings menu. The PLC must be connected to the XG5000 software to access the log.

Error Log Displays a log of errors and warnings Log saves up to 100 events
Remark
(1) The Error Log may be cleared by clicking the Clear button
(2) The Details/Remedy box provides more information about the issue and troubleshooting procedures.
10.2.2 Troubleshooting
1. Fault types
PLC system faults occur from PLC hardware failures, PLC system configuration, PLC program
errors, and peripheral equipment failures. Causes include but are not limited to:
PLC hardware failure
Failures within the PLC hardware (CPU and expansion/specialty modules) typically
result in a hard failure that cannot be corrected with a power cycle. These failures can
come from a component failure, a power supply surge, and incorrect power supply
connections
