IdleShutdown
Thisfeaturewillshutofftheengineafterithasbeenidleforaspeciedperiod.The
timeperiodiscustomerprogrammableusingtheVCADSsoftware.Analarmwill
warn30seconds(aprogrammabletimeframe)beforetheenginewillshutdown.The
idleshutdownoverrideswitchcanbeusedduringthis30secondperiodtooverride
idleshutdownortheservicebrakeoracceleratorpedal(AP)canbeapplied.Once
theengineshutsdown,theenginecanbere-startedbyturningtheignitionkeyto
theStartposition.
IfIdleShutdownwithsleepermodeisenabled,theshutdowncanbecancelledifthe
idleshutdownoverrideswitch,servicebrakes,orAParepressedwhiletheShutdown
Indicatorison.Idleshutdownwillbeactiveagainafterthevehiclehasbeenmoved
andparked.Someoptionsonlyallowsleepermodeiftheambientairtemperature
(AAT)requiresheatingorairconditioning.Iftheambienttemperaturesareout
ofrange,theamberelectronicmalfunctionindicatorwillilluminateandtheidle
shutdownfunctioncanbeoverridden.IfAA Tiswithinrange,idleshutdownremains
activeandtheredshutdownindicatorwillilluminateasawarning(refertotheVCADS
User'sGuideformoreinformationaboutpossibleidleshutdownsettings).
Note:Idleshutdownwillnot
occurduringanaftertreatmentdieselparticulate
lter(DPF)regeneration.Iftheidleshutdowntimerrequestsashutdownduring
aftertreatmentdieselparticulatelter(DPF)regeneration,theenginewillnotshut
downuntilafter
regenerationhasbeencompleted.
Note:TheCaliforniaAirResourcesBoard(CARB)requires2010modelyear
vehiclestobeequippedwithengineshavingtamper-resistantsoftwarewhichlimits
thetimethattheenginecanidleatspeedsabovelowidle(550–700RPM).Atspeeds
abovelowidle,andwithapowertakeoff(PTO)engaged,idletimewillbelimitedto5
minutes,afterwhichtheenginewillrevertbacktolowidle.Vehiclesequippedwitha
CleanIdleengineareidentiedbyalabelwhichisafxedtotheleftfrontcornerof
thehoodonconventionalmodels(CXU,CHUandGU),andthelowerportionofthe
driver'ssidedooroncab-overmodels(MRUandLEU).
