IdleCooldown
Thisfeatureprovidesameansofcoolingdowntheengineandturbocharger.Iftheidle
cooldownoptionisenabledusingVCADSsoftwareandthesystemsensesthatthe
turbochargermaybehot,theenginewillnotshutdownwhenthevehiclestops,the
parkingbrakeissetandtheignitionkeyisturnedtotheOFFposition.Thisfeature
allowsthedrivertolockthetruckandwalkawaywhilestillprovidingadequate
cooldown.Allswitchedaccessorieswillthenturnoffoncetheenginehasstopped.If
thisoptionisset,theenginecanbeshutdownimmediatelybycyclingtheignitionkey
orbypressingtheshutdownoverrideswitch.
Theidlecooldowntimerissetto3.5minutesassoonastheengineloadexceeds25%,
providedthattheenginehasbeenrunningatleast60seconds.Aftertheloaddrops
below25%(thelowesttriggeris35%for2minutes),thetimerbeginscountingdown.
Ifthekeyswitchisturnedoffbeforethetimerexpires,theenginewillcontinueto
rununtilthetimerreacheszero.
Ifapyrometerisinstalled,theidlecooldownfunctionwillusethepyrometerreading,
shuttingtheenginedownwhenthetemperaturedropsbelow232°C(450°F),orafter
3.5minutes,whichevercomesrst.
ThedefaultforthisoptionissetatOFFfromthefactory.
Note:Theparkingbrakemustbeonfor
theidlecooldownfunctiontowork.
FanControl
TheON/OFFfanclutch(whenequipped)canbecontrolledbyvehiclemanagement
andcontrol(V-MAC)IV .ThefollowingoptionsforON/OFFfancontrolareavailable
andcanbeprogrammedusingthepersonalcomputerrunningVCADSsoftware:
•MinimumfanONtimeforhigh-freonpressurewhilevehicleisparked
•Enableoptionalfanoverridewithoverrideswitchwhilevehicleisparked
•Enableoptionalfanoverridewithoverrideswitchwhilevehicleismoving
•Optionalfanoverridetimewhilevehicleismoving
•Optionalfanengagementwhileapowertakeoff(PTO)isengaged(notavailable
forallsoftwarelevels)
BothelectronicviscousandHDMSfansprovideconstantvariablefanspeedfor
optimumcooling.Theoptionalengagementsandoverridesavailablewiththe
ON/OFFfancontrolarealsoavailablewiththeelectronicviscousfan.
