Cold check
With the cold check, you make sure that the filled in amount of
oil is sufficient for a safe operation until the hot check with oil
that is at operating temperature. The cold check is conducted
with running motor and cold oil.
WARNING!
Accident hazard!
If you leave the MT while the motor is running, the MT
can start rolling unintentionally and seriously injure
persons.
X Always shift into neutral and apply the parking brake
before exiting the MT.
X Make sure the engine is running at low idle speed.
X Secure the wheels additionally with blocks.
CAUTION!
Transmission damage!
During the cold check, the oil is still cold and has less
expansion as oil at operating temperature.
Due to the greater expansion of the oil at operating
temperature, a too high oil level may damage the
transmission.
X Make sure the oil level is in the “COLD CHECK”
range 4 during the cold check.
X The oil level should never exceed the “COLD-FULL”
or drop below the “COLD-ADD” marking of the oil dip
stick.
X Use only authorised types of transmission oil.
X Park the MT on level ground.
X Shift the transmission into neutral N and apply the parking
brake.
X Let the engine run at low idle speed.
X Shift the transmission into driving gear D and then, via the
neutral position N into driving gear R.
By shifting forwards and back, you bleed the hydraulic
circuit of the transmission.
X Allow the engine to run at low idle speed in shift position N
for about one minute.
